摩訶迦葉尊者

佛陀弟子眾中，頭陀第一。身具紫金光，少欲知足，持頭陀行。靈山會上，佛陀拈花示眾，唯尊者微笑，乃禪宗傳法之始。於佛滅度後，主持經典結集，興立正法。

Mahakasyapa

Mahakasyapa was foremost in ascetic practice among the Buddha′s disciples. His body radiated a light of purple and gold. He contented with little, adhering to the ascetic way of life. At Vulture Peak, when the Buddha picked up a flower in front of the assembly, only Mahakasyapa smiled in understanding. This marked the beginning of the Chan lineage. After the Buddha′s parinirvana, Mahakasyapa presided over the compilation of the sutras and set the foundation of the Buddhist religion.
